We live in a material world

After a couple of weeks of living on Long Island I have come to realise that money really does make the world go around. At least around here it does.

I have been told that this is America's most materialist area. One of the riches and most expensive areas. And I sure do hope so...

Since everyday in class I am inspired by the nations intelects... The thinkers of this world, the betterers of this world I find it hard to understand that this generation I see around me is the result of that.

There's something to be said about the contrast between the city and the Island. Imagine taking a 30 minute train ride, leaving all culture behind and arriving in what seems to be a parkinglot filled with kfc's and poppeyes'... Not to sound ungratefull for this opportunity but Hempstead just isn't exactly classy.

I guess in every experience there's a lesson to be learned and let the lesson wisely be, for me, that this is not the life I see...
